I'm in the southeast of the United States and am looking to make some homemade formicariums for my camponotus and pharaoh ants. I would love to be able to make them out of Ytong/AAC but I can't find anywhere where I can purchase some. Does anyone know where to get some/ a good alternative for it? Thanks!

I think a lot of people use this block called "Firebrick". Although, I don't know where you'd get it.

You can get some at Menards, Lowe, and The Home Depot.

And Firebrick is the same kind of substance where it is soft enough to easily be carved with a screwdriver, etc?

Yes it can be carved with a screw driver.
