Ant Nursery/incubator

I was having trouble maintaining proper temperatures for my founding queens here in Alberta. ( Air conditioning and the GF not wanting multiple ants in our warmer rooms)  So I devised this setup, perfect for founding multiple colonies and maintaining a constant temp. I have since added covers for the test tubes as the setup clearly lets in sudden burst of light when the front cover is opened. It was cheap to build, as I salvaged most of the materials from my workplace and garage.

I will also soon be making my own formicariums so stay posted :ugeek:

Wow nice job, looks great!
If you figure out a way to cool this set up as well you can also hibernate them in there :P
First year of antkeeping, already enjoying it!

Currently founding:

Lasius niger
Lasius umbratus
Lasius flavus

Still hoping to find a Formica queen.

Thank you! Its a little slapstick but for the price cant complain at all  I was thinking about the hibernation factor as well, and depending on where I move it to I may either need that heating cable to keep them above 0c or I could use cryopacs for radiant cooling.
I have two more of those containers... I'm thinking what would mikey do to make them into out worlds :ugeek:
