Hay I was wondering how to become a professional myrmecologist and what kind of work is out there for someone who becomes one ty

Well I'm just guessing here, but I would think there would be at least 4 years of university-level learning and study involved, and then for work, you would probably stay on staff at the university and help in their "myrmecology" lab continuing on with the studies they are doing. Perhaps some travel would be involved to different places in the world to further the study of ants.

I have come across a few that I know have some sort of program. Debra Gordon at Stanford University studies ants and is a known myrmecologist. She gave a nice Google Tech Talk several years ago. Here is the YouTube of it:Regnarg1 wrote:What schools would be best ? And thanks for the information:)
Based on that, I would assume Stanford might be a good place to start.
There is also a well-known mymecologist at the University of Utah named Jack Longino. Perhaps there is a program there as well.
Finally, our own Mikey Bustos recently visited the Chicago Field Museum where Dr. Corrie Moreau has an ant lab. You can see his video here:
