Collecting ant colonies from the wild?

Is it possible to collect an ant colony fron the wild by leaving a pre made nest outside, and wait for them to move in to it?

Unlikely. Living underground is far preferable.

yes just because the ants can dig their own tunnels. they can choose the right humidity and they have spring tails and other cleaners to help them and their nest stay clean

I am aware of this, but in AntsCanada's video, the Fire Nations' queen preferred the formicarium instead of the dirt bin

Yes.Make Sure You Dig Up Queen,Brood,And As Many Of The Workers And Soldiers As You Can.
Alternativly Flip Stones And The Queen Will Be At The Top With Brood Workers Soldiers.Be Carefull With Small Species.

When do you find queens at the top of nests?
