Hi, im new to the antkeeping hobby and wanted to setup an old aquirium of mine for ants.
While in preparation i took som old hoses for moving ants.
I then suddenly notice some ants coming out of them, in a panick i placed te hoses in the aquarium where they began swarming out of there, i build them as much of a home i could with them inside.
A day later and they seemed to claimed their home ^^
My biggest question now is, if theres is a way to know if a queen is in there.
I never saw brood, but i was in a hurry and didn't watch them closely.
I plan to look after the ants regardless, but i would love to know ^^

By closer inspection i noticed some yellowish / orange ants between the black ants, are those younger ants or dose my colony have a parasite problem?

They might be new ants whose exoskeleton is hardening.

Ah, ok then, as long as the orange ants are going away it should be fine. To put a photo inside of a post, you will have to put it on a photo sharing platform, then from there copy the image address, then paste it between [ img ] [ / img ]. Don't leave spaces, I just did that so that the code would not go through.
