Ant feeding

Where I live it is early spring and no bugs are out yet, however my ants are out of hibernation and need protein. I have tried a sunflower seed and my tetramorium liked it but my 3 camponotus colonies didn´t care at all. So I am wondering what protein source to give to my ants because I do not have feeder insects or protein jelly of any kind. :?

I give mine boiled eggs (you can experiment with both types and see which one they like. Mine like hard boiled). Sometimes i give them cooked chicken and i am indian so i have to give them the piece with no spices but i think boiled meat could work

My ants are out of hibernation, and I have been having a bit of trouble getting my Camponotus colony to eat too. Like Antloverhuman said, cooked chickens works pretty well. On a warmer day, you could try looking under rocks, and you might find some insects.

I found a random moth on my window, I guess its my lucky day. I split it up and now the colonies especially the C. novaeboracensis are ripping into the carcass pieces. :D

I was just wondering if they were able to eat stuff like peanut butter.

That's great! I have never tried peanut butter, but it would not hurt to try.
