What is the difference between lasius and black crazy ant queens? i can see some colour difference, but lasius queens have some varying colour shades so it's hard to tell.

Re: Queen differences
THey're surprisingly similar, are you pointing to any specific specie of lasius? THere are only prolasius in Australia if your asking. Generally when comparing with a few different specimen. the Blakc Crazy ants have longer legs, but I'm sure someone else can de better.

The workers are fairly different from each other, but the queens look a lot alike.AntsAntsAnts wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 11:23 pmWhat is the difference between lasius and black crazy ant queens? i can see some colour difference, but lasius queens have some varying colour shades so it's hard to tell.

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Re: Queen differences
Black crazy ants have almost similar gaster and thorax size whereas lasius niger have huge gasters. I have never seen a lasius niger queen but the gaster of bca queen is the same length as the workers
