Which is more humane
I recently bought some crickets to feed my young ant colonies and I need a way to kill them. for that I have 2 options that I thought would deliver a quick humane death for the poor cricket. 1. I have an electric flyswatter that will zap them and kill them almost in an instant. 2. I could put one in a test tube then put that in the freezer so they would just slow down until death. My question is which is more humane and which way would the ants prefer their meat cooked.

Seems like electric would be more humane but I don’t know what the ants prefer. I just squash the head then remove it. I also suggest that you add a pinch of sugar in the juice. They seem to like that more.

I just cut the head off, and that seems to kill them in an instant. I have tried boiling the crickets (witch would be like cooking) and the ants don't seem to like it as much, but it might just be that they are wet after being boiled. Hope this helps!RespectforAnts wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 8:56 pmI recently bought some crickets to feed my young ant colonies and I need a way to kill them. for that I have 2 options that I thought would deliver a quick humane death for the poor cricket. 1. Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

I normally just use an old pair of scissors, that only get used for that. And also I don't hold it I just keep it in the container I caught it in and wait for it to settle down, then do it.RespectforAnts wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 4:26 pmThats a good idea but then you have to hold the squirming thing and I dont know what I'd cut it with, but thank you for the advice.
