Do you recommend this method of catching queen ants?
I hope I am posting on the right forum. Here is the question.I am thinking of a new method for catching queen ants.I was thinking that if it turned out a queen ant I caught was not fertilized,I could look for few males of the same species and place them together in a test tube together, and check if one has mted with the queen. What do you think?

It doesn't work because the pair won't end up mating or the queen might end up killing the male. You can do what AC did in one of his videos which is catching as many queens and males into a jar and placing it near a light, do make sure the jar is big enough so they have an area to fly.

Half a month will not be enought time for the eggs to develope very mutch so maybe just wait a litle longer, like a month or two.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]
