Writing an Ant Story, What should I do?

Writing an Ant Story, What should I do?
I want to write an epic story about ants, but I have no idea where to start!
Like, should I write about a species native to where I live (Florida) or should I just write about ants?

Re: Writing an Ant Story, What should I do?
What kind of story, fiction, non fiction, scientificly accurate about ants or just ant themed?
For a book that has ants (ant people) and is fantasy have a read of "The wandering Inn"
My sugestion would be to decided 4 things
1. Is this about ants or just ant themed
2. is this fiction or non fiction
3. What age group are going to reads it and what kind of people, for your grand parents, your parents, your own age or an 8 year old?
4. if its fiction what kind of stories do you like, War, crime, sci-fi, romance, drama? and then put your ants in to this world.

Try reading the Shadows of the Apt series by Adrian Tchaikovsky for an idea of how to work bugs into epic fantasy. There's a bunch of others but that's the one I have on my shelf now for inspiration. Good luck!

Also another good series that incorporates animal as the main subject in books is the Silverwing series, its about bats i remember having to read the series in high school. I know its not the exact same but it could give you some perspective on how to portray it. Also it depends on if you want to type of book you wanna make it. Silverwing is like i'd say 50/50 between facts on bats and fiction for story purposes.
Re: Writing an Ant Story, What should I do?
I started making an ant book earlier last year. I am calling it ''the rubra guardians''. I have not been very focused on making the book and do not do it a lot but I will finish it some day! The main character has an ant colony and the colony involves a huge twist at the end and the book is full of ant facts. This is the description for the book:
PS: please do not steal my idea.A killer is looking for an object that unlocks great riches. He finds out a student in Mr. James class has the object but doesn't know which one. He starts kidnaping those students one by one and killing them if they don't have it. WILL HE SUCCEED!?
(this story is a perfect mix of murder and random facts.)
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

Also, to answer your question;
1. It's going to be about ants.
2. It's going to be fiction. A fantasy novel to be specific.
3. I want to make it for all ages
4. I like fantasy and action.

I also want to make it like a slice-of-series, with action, adventure, and comedy.
(kinda like the anime Nichijou, but with ants, and its a book series )
