I am writing a short story about Ant-keeping

Hello, I am currently writing a dark-fiction short story that deals quite a bit with keeping ants as it's big scare point. I know that a great number of people find this hobby gross, so I want to use that to create an unsettling atmosphere yet still a love letter to this hobby. I would love to answer any questions or just chat about this project as I am currently writing it. (I tried keeping ants, the species I found took a long time to mature and I might be moving before they do and wouldn't take them across state lines)
