Hello,
my friend and I want do do some research on fungus growing species, preferably Mycocepurus smithii, Cyphomyrmex spec. and Trachymyrmex septentrionalis, but most fungus growing ant species will do this job.
We want to do social behavior and food behavior research. The problem is we are unable to get hands on such a species because there are no such ant species where we live (Germany). Would anyone have an idea how we might get ourselves hands on such a species? We would really appreciate any help me could get.
Thanks very much,
Sincerly,
Danilo and Andre

some ant stores sell queen but because of laws it is hard to ship live queen ants. I would really love to help you more but only trading through the GAN project is allowed on this form. also just looking through the list of species in Germany I saw that some species of Strumigenys, a trap jaw ant, live in Germany. maybe you could study those?
