They are commonly known as grease ants, because they like greasy foods. I have a large colony, and they love butter. They will eat almost any insect. You can keep them in a single test tube for quite a while, as they are very, very tiny. They are also polygynous, so you can build colonies out of as many queens as you can find. My colony has around 60.
