Re: The Ultimate Burn Of Catching Ant Queens

At least you caught one. I’m really upset cause it’s my first queen I've caught ever and the first I’ve seen in weeks. And I can’t find it now. She was quite large though. I’d say maybe 15mm or so. Still had wings so I think she flew.HaydenP wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 8:34 pm[quote=SebbyBC post_id=50947 time=1537400790 user_id=16550]

Update: 4 pheidole workers escaped and I only found 1. Kinda crazy that this thread was just started and now it happened to me. Wasn’t the queen though
Are those the only workers you had?

I have a queen and with it, I caught six workers. 3 are still missing and one died. I have two other pheidole queens, but I’m not using workers with them because I’m not sure if the worker method is better or not so I wanted a backup. They seem to reproduce by budding though and are very polygynous, so the workers don’t harm the queen at all. I went back and caught a major and a worker to makeup for the missing ones. I’m not going to go after anymore. I’ll just see how this goes I guess.

Good luck to you, I still haven’t found my queen so I don’t think it’s going to happen at all.
