Why is the forum inactive lately?
I haven't seen much activity on the forum lately, or maybe it's just me.

Hibernation is coming around the corner, and less queens are being caught. This has happened all three years I've been contributing to the forum.
Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

When I joined it was pretty inactive too (not going to lie I was too ).
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

Re: Why is the forum inactive lately?
During the winter I only come on here once a month!
Re: Why is the forum inactive lately?
I'm new to the forum but i log on every morning European time and for the past couple of month there have been a steady 2 pagers of new posts. Most of them are ID's witch are pretty boring for a new ant keeper and around a handful of other that are interesting to read and see peoples opinions and experiences. So when there are no more queen ids left there will only be the other topics.
I started a thread called "updates from a danish noob" https://forum.AntsCanada.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6414 , nobody have commented on it witch would be nice but almost every day there are more views more than 300 by now so people come here and look for info and entertainment.

The forum is becoming really inactive now.

Don't worry. I didn't post very much either in my first forum experience.TheRealAntMan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 28, 2018 4:11 pmWhen I joined it was pretty inactive too (not going to lie I was too ).

Not to mention schools of all ages are either starting or preparing to start like colleges and what not.
Ants are life's most successful invaders. Understand and respect that power.
Re: Why is the forum inactive lately?
To be honest, since I started I use the forum almost every day and since the forum has been mostly quiet with the odd bust of topics, but like mentioned about it is mostly queen ID related or a lot of repeated questions.
But hey do not fear I will most likely ask odd questions to do with behaviour and interactions people have found their ants reacting to too. I mostly like to hear about personally colony personalities and how their colony may differ from another. For example, out of 4 Lasius Niger colonies that I have only one is very curious and hyper by default and like to have food dropped away from their test tube. The other 3 may as well be spoon fed and are very skittish.
Things like this I'll bring up over the hibernation period.

Research is important before during and even after you have established a colony. There is always time to learn and to listen to others experiences. Live by this and your ants will thrive. Fail to do so and your experience may be brief.

But I would assume people would be raving about Lasius, Myrmica, Temnothorax, and Ponera queens lately. And maybe even a few Atta or Acromyrmex, too.
