My Queen killed a major

I tried introducing a major into my Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony (she was pretty weak so she didn't pose a threat to the colony). The workers scrambled around and tried to get away, but the queen jumped on it, sprayed it with formic acid, and ripped it's head off. I had no idea a queen could be so brutal.

One of my Queens killed a small grasshopper herself after her nantics were too afraid of it. Mama can be fierce when she feels like it :)

I guess I should have expected something like that when I was placing her in her test tube. She bit me, and I would have started bleeding if I wouldn't have yanked her off. :o

I once place a mealworm beetle in my camponotus container and lets just say the queens tackled it and scared it away when the beetle tried to invade the test tube.
