Just caught this big queen today! Seems there are a bunch of this species out right now!
Caught in Northeast USA, Alone and walkin about! The it is about a half inch long. Don't know species or anything.
Also are Acorn Ants super small? Think I caught a queen of that species too :p

It is most likely a Camponotus species. And yes, Acorn ants are very small, but Thief ants are just as small.

Formica Subsericea.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

Is this formica or camponotus? Also what is a common name for formica subsericea?

There is no name associated taxon yet. And yes it is Formica.

When looking up Formica Subsericea it matches the picture identically, the body has some small shinyish stripes to match as well
