He thought they are a native species of Pheidole until his viewers told him that it's P. megacephala.SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 6:45 amHe considered releasing megacephala? Why? They aren't anything close to native where he is and they cause so much environmental damage in Florida that they will even kill full grown Camponotus colonies.SYUTEO wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 8:56 pmHe had an older colony of Pheidole which lived on three pots of soil with plants (which he calls floating islands), one of them is a bonsai tree. It was quite some time ago when he first had that colony.SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 1:11 pm
I thought he had S. Gemineta. I don’t watch anymore so if it is recent I wouldn’t know.
Recently he had a second colony of Pheidole which is Pheidole megacephala which is a huge colony with at least 100 queens which he almost decided to release.

One species that I think is interesting that I recently heard about is Dorymyrmex ensifer. TRANSPARENT ants!

Re: Dream Ant Colony
D. bicolor i think is pretty easy, but some have had trouble with bureni. Also, unfortunately ants(with a few exceptions) will not mate in captivity... This includes dormyrmex.
