Hey guys.
I found this species of ant, I'm pretty sure it's from the Formica species, but anyways, it has a bright orange head and thorax and a black abdomen as well as black legs. It's quite a short stubby ant, the head is not that much smaller than it's abdomen. It looks like a raiding ant because I saw their colony, and there's always a big bunch of these ants picking on another ant from a different species. I found them at the base of a tree somewhat under a dead log. I'll try to get a picture but don't expect any great photography
Thanks in advance

Need pics, location, and measurements.
Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

I live in Southern Alberta, Canada.
The worker ant is about 7mm from head to abdomen
How do you send pics on this forum? I took some on my phone but they were too big to upload onto the forum.

Re: Ant ID
I agree with Formica, although I wouldn't be able to say which one from the pictures.

I'll take better pics once I get a new phone next week
