Also, I think I should add I live in Brazil, so ants here don't hibernate, which means there shouldn't be a long period before she lays eggs, right?

Infertile as non-mated? Or infertile as "incapable of laying eggs"?

I ask that because, if what I've read is right, a non-mated queen should lay eggs anyways, but drones will be born. Is that correct?
