Do Myrmica americana colonies get as big as Myrmica rubra?
I have a colony of Myrmica americana and was wondering if they are as explosive as Myrmica rubra.

Nobody really knows much about particular Myrmica sp. because they are so difficult to identify that you generally need to dissect workers and examine them under a microscope to pull it off. Even myrmecologists have a difficult time with this genus.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
