Formica Sanguinea

Hello, I have 2 small founding colonies of Formica Sanguinea (2 workers and 6 workers + brood). I have read on the internet that they are often polygynous in nature. How can I merge them? Maybe put them both in the fridge for 10 minutes to calm them down and then connect test tubes?

i think you could separate their nest with cotton they could develop the same colony scent
