Ants moved in wrong spot
Someone suggested to me that when introducing ants to an outworld, instead of removing the cotton to put a straw between the cotton. I did so and when I came home the ants were gone, until i saw they had decided to nest in the straw and now I'm unable to see them. I've tried everything and they won't move back in the test tube. Just so you know the straw deflects light so i can't shine a light on it so that method is usless. and heat hasn't worked either. Any suggestions?

Well yeah but it's inconvenient for them to be where they are.

Why is it inconvenient? You won't need to move them for a while. It may bug you, (I've had it happen) but it won't do any harm. They must find that that distance from the cotton is the best humidity for them to thrive.
Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
