Hello! I was wanting to know what colony of the three listed above would be your favorite to keep! Thanks.

I'd have to agree with Camponotus novaeboracensis
Hi I'm Jack, How are you?

Camponotus novaeboracensis, although I do love my Formica, so if you had to add a fourth to the mix, it would be that.

Pretty cool! Yeah, Camponotous novaeboracensis is one of my favorites too. I wish I could keep formica, but right now I live in North Dakota so no can do. Only thing I don't like about novaeboracensis is how long it takes, like 2 years, before you start seeing many ants. It takes like 1 year to see 20-50. They lay eggs in batches. But when the colony gets up to size it gets really cool.

To be honest, I would have to go with Lasius niger, or a closely related species like L. alienus. I tend to like the smaller ants better (No, not becuase the large ones are "scary"). A simple, plain example of an ecologically important, native ant species is what I like best.
