Have you considered implementing like a two day probationary period where new members aren’t allowed to post? Might cut back on the spammers, I dunno.

Or maybe an even better idea is to only allow one post in a 24h period for new members. That way a spam bot isn’t able to post 18 times in every single topic within 10 minutes of signing up. It can post once and then hopefully get banned within 24h so it can’t post anything else.

We hope to be doing an upgrade to the forum software soon. This will resolve a lot of the spam bot issues. Until then I will continue to log on each day a min of once or more to clear anything posted.

hey MadVampy

I was thinking. Wouldn't a capcha phrase stop at least bots from signing up?

There is Capcha used and also email verification also. These spammers are setting up legit accounts, verifying emails and everything. I can't go into 100% detail on how I catch most but lets just say I have to weed them out. The forums was at one point set that I verified every person that applied but that took a very long time to get people verified and also wasn't 100% full proof.

That is messed up. Not as bad, but in the same realm of scammer-scum. There's a special place in hell for scammers.
Thank you for your good work!

I've also seen something called a spider, and I thought those were bad. Not sure but there seem to always be [bot]s on.
