Unfortunately the one in the first pic died sometime in the past day. After hours of searching I figured out what she is, mainly by accident and only because after she died I saw the stinger. She isn't even actually an ant. She's a red velvet ant( a Wingless wasp). Dasymutilla Canella. It's funny cause right after I found her I had said to my friends it's weird cause she doesn't really look like an ant more like a bee or wasp. It was the way she was moving her head and antenna. Just not really "ant like" and she moved really fast. Didn't expect her to actually be a wasp though. Didn't even know there were wingless ones. Really wish she would've survived, would've been awesome to have one and she was gorgeous.
