They might be. I've herd they go into a "summer hibernation", o they might not be that interesting.Dariansolenopsis wrote:Hey I have a question is prenelopis imparis good for a beginner.

The are usually eady to start but frequently die durkng year 2. Many people also accidentally overheat the nestDariansolenopsis wrote:Hey I have a question is prenelopis imparis good for a beginner.

They are indeed great for beginners as they are pretty average in every way... not to slow or fast growing not to big either save for the queen unless you feed them a ton to see the big fat repletes become living larder storage units. A lot of people like to add food coloring to the sugar water they feed them to have very colorful gasters in any color you can imagine... They also prefer cold unlike most ants & go into hibernation in the summer instead of the winter.Dariansolenopsis wrote:Hey I have a question is prenelopis imparis good for a beginner.

Myrmica and Lasius could still be flying, yet their nuptial flights usually happen in September.between6and20 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2016 7:28 pmJust wondering which nuptial flights are happening in southern MN. Haven't been able to catch any queens. Thanks!
