Colony becoming too big??

Hi, I' completely new and want to start a formica colony, but I'm unsure of how to proceed when my colony needs more space to expand - do I just have to make more nests for it overtime and then just let it expand naturally without interfering? Also, how do I create a watering system?
Thanks!

You can always add more nest space, or increase the size/amount of your arena(s)

As for the water, a test tube filled with water and plugged with a ball of cotton should do.

Of course if you're nuts like me, you could provide your ants with a river of fresh water surrounding their nest.

Do you recommend plaster? Or a different inexpensive material?

Not sure what you mean? What would you like to use the plaster for? Besides fixing walls in your house?

Most people use either plaster or Ytong to construct their formicariums, right? Iā€™m just asking which material is better in general..

I have no experience with either, so I can't tell you
