Is a sponge with antimicrobactwrial protection ok to use?

I guess, You have to be careful with chemical's and ant's but I think that a sponge is OK to use.

I did some research on these sponges, but wasn’t really able to find out much information about what’s in them that makes them antibacterial. If some sort of chemical is used to kill the bacteria then I wouldn’t use for your ants since you don’t know if the chemicals are also harmful to insects.

im using it in a plaster nest/ formicarium i built to maintain moisture. just wondering what type of sponge people use. for any ant application really. do you use cellulose. i cant find anything thats basically just plain.

i should add im just using cotton right now but its not very absorbent.
