I recently caught two (possibly three, but the third one could be a different species) queen ants, possibly not mated, as they still have their wings, and identified two of them because they smelled like lemon. I have no experience in antkeeping, could anyone give me information on the care of this ant species? I'm afraid pictures might not be helpful because the unidentified one is in a yellow container. Thanks for any help!
Oh yeah! The third one was found about a week before the other two, and has decided to nest in the cotton so I have no idea if she's laid any eggs yet.

You will need Lasius host workers to start a claviger colony. Here’s everything you need to know about ant social parasites.

Thanks, but I don't know where I would find any brood for them... the colonies I know of I'd have to dig into to get any...JoeHostile1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 9:52 amYou will need Lasius host workers to start a claviger colony. Here’s everything you need to know about ant social parasites.

Digging into an ant colony likely won't harm it. They keep their queen deep down in, especially this time of year. Yet I don't think they would keep brood close to the surface this time of year, either.Antonie wrote: ↑Thu Oct 11, 2018 9:28 amThanks, but I don't know where I would find any brood for them... the colonies I know of I'd have to dig into to get any...JoeHostile1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 9:52 amYou will need Lasius host workers to start a claviger colony. "God made every kind of wild beasts and every kind of livestock and every kind of creeping things;" (including ants) "and God saw that it was good." Genesis 1:25

Yeah, that's true. I'll keep trying, though! (It's warmer today, luckily)AntsDakota wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 5:14 pmDigging into an ant colony likely won't harm it.
