Feeding claustral queens
My question is when should i start feeding them in test tubes, is it when they have their first workers or later or before because i dont believe they can sustain themselves till they are ready to move in the formicarium

Re: Feeding claustral queens
Fully claustral queens should not be fed unless they have serious setbacks (eating their brood multiple times) Provide your colony with an outworld (drinking straw method) when the first worker ecloses. Never feed in the tube as this causes stress and mold outbreaks.

Stick a drinking straw through the cotton and put the other end into your outworld. This provides a small and secure tunnel for your ants.Bartol wrote: ↑Fri Aug 31, 2018 1:30 pmcan u elaborate what the drinking straw method isidahoantgirl wrote: ↑Fri Aug 31, 2018 10:28 amFully claustral queens should not be fed unless they have serious setbacks (eating their brood multiple times) Provide your colony with an outworld (drinking straw method) when the first worker ecloses. The one inch section of drinking straw is wedged between the exit cotton and the side of the tube.

I love watching my ants exploring their outworld for the first time.
