Please help identify this Queen
I caught this queen (14mm long) in Greece on the 21/06/18 however it wasn’t during a nuptial flight. I was in the forest and found what looked like a hole to a founding chamber, I decided to dig it up to see if there was a queen inside.
It took me 45 mins/an hour to carefully dig down the side of the tunnel and when I got to the bottom it was empty! Very disappointed I decided to head home, I picked up my bag ready to leave and when I did I saw a queen ant underneath it.
She must have sneaked out the hole at some point and hid under my bag lol. I think she might be a Camponotus sp. but not 100% sure because she was in the ground and not in wood. I found a nest of the same species close by going underground as well. Any help would be very much appreciate.
I have some photos but the quality isn’t the best

the first 7 photos.
Thanks

Can someone please help? Thanks.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Pic doesn’t work for me, but some Camponotus live in the ground, such as Camponotus flordanus. Please sway away from riving old posts like this, as the author is never going to return. The only reason anyone answered is to move it out of the unanswered topic section.steverogers wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 7:11 amDo you have any other gallery photos source to check the Ants Queen images Because after reading your story it looks similar to mine story Queen which I have found around of my house.
