Starting a Colony

I am very new to the ant keeping world. I’m based out of upstate New York and I’m 14. I would like to get started, but I need help getting a colony and their queen

I don’t want to go too extreme. I’m just looking for some recommendations to get started without spending a ton of money.

My name is Jackson Strong, and I'm 14, too. 8-) I would suggest finding out what species of ants live in your area. Then you can catch a queen ant of a species that lives in your area during their nuptial flights. After, that then you can rear the queen in a test-tube. If you don't want to catch a queen during a nuptial flight, then maybe you could buy ants from the GAN Project. Hopefully, this helps you. :D

I found a atta texana queen freshly mated. I am not equipped to care for her, but I also didnt want the abundance of fire ants to kill her. Her location choice was extremely dangerous for her. Would you happen to know someone that has the ability and want of an atta texana queen?
