This year I’ve been catching queens everywhere I go and was wondering how long you have to have been antkeeping to be accepted into the GAN program. Does anyone know?

I know there are some terms and conditions you have to agree to before you can become a GAN farmer, but I am not sure there is a required time you have to have been keeping ant. I doubt it actually. But that will probably be in the terms and condition hahaha.
I think you can find the information on AntsCanada.com

What I mean is that they ask how long you’ve been antkeeping, and I’ve been wondering how that factors into it

Well the longer you've kept ants, the more experienced you are in caring for them?

No clue... You should apply and ask them?

Yeah, that probably makes the most sense. My situation is that I got into ant keeping last November, just as all the ants started hibernating. So I’ve been watching tutorials for over a year, and would like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable on ants, despite this being my first year with actual ants. I probably wouldn’t actually apply until next year but I would be wondering if they would accept me then.

I have received my queens last week and never kept any type of insects. (Not counting the countless mosquitos that feasted on my warm body :D )

I have binge watched YouTube clips, read care sheets, checked wiki pages, joined forums and so on. So I did a ton of research (Like you) to make sure I could provide a suitable environment for the ants. Check out what I intend to build for them, it might have some useful stuff for you in it as well.

That’s such a cool setup! I’m personally going for something simpler so I can easily expand if need be. I suggest you’re careful with the ants. Since you have such a out there terrarium, it might be a good idea to wait until there’s a few more workers then usual so they’ll better adapt to their space. Make sure that they can get food if they need it.

Yeah i plan to house them in a Camponotus Large Hybrid Nest first and then when the time is right, instead of having an outworld attached, I will provide them with a connection to the natural setup. I will start feeding them in there and I expect them to then move in on their own.
