Hey this is a post for all those in ontario who use rain patterns to help find nuptial flights and or just queens. If ya see rain jump in and let us know perhaps that rain in your area ended up affecting ants just outside the AOE (AREA OF EFFECT for those not used to gaming)

It rained this morning at about 5-6 am in southern ontario, keep those eyes peeled

I live just upriver from Ottawa and I expect it to get stormy over the next few days. Expect the unexpected. We were calling for clear weather last night and we got a freak storm with a for only about ten minutes. It ended with a huge gust of wind like a tornado for about 15-20 seconds with a top windspeed of 60mph, then went totally calm in a second. calm, clear and the stars came out. Took down a tree here. Totally out of the blue and unexpected. Nothing on the radar or weather report. Was freaky but cool to watch.

Formica nuptial happened today saw 4 caught 1. Will be uploading to ant I'd just to be sure when my Internet and computer stop darting around.

On a side note it was extremely humid I saw the Queens all at 2pm. We were called for thunderstorms in orangeville that did not happen and we were left with hot humid day.

Major thunderstorm yesterday through southern ontario.

As for you're question I have found them on slightly windy to heavy windy days and I find of its 'spitting' to increase chances look under tile stones and rocks alot of ants around here use wet rocks like magnets. I find that it's best to go out multiple times usually between 7 and 9 1 and 6 and then 9pm to 4 am for nocturnal species. Those seem to be the best times this year for my luck.
