I know a lot of people have been waiting for this: Myrmica Rubra nuptial flights are ocuring in Southern Uk!
Nice! Hope you catch some! You had any rain recently? The last rain here was already over a week ago and no rain in sight for a while either :(
First year of antkeeping, already enjoying it!

Currently founding:

Lasius niger
Lasius umbratus
Lasius flavus

Still hoping to find a Formica queen.

We had a tiny bit at the beginning of last week. Though it's going to be getting cooler over here in the next few days and more chances for rain.

Do nuptial flights span multiple days?
Usually they do, but I've found that Lasius neoniger and related species release most of their elates in one evening, and then release the rest sporadically though out several days before and after the big flight. But Lasius niger could be different.

Depends on what it is based around. If it is something interesting I will help wherever I can.

Hey! I didn’t mean it like that! I just wondered if you thought that it could be a good idea!

And I though it could be like a chatting area where we could talk about how our queens ‘n colonies are doing!
