Hey I was just wondering if anyone had a monthly schedule of when nuptial flights were in central Alberta Canada . Want to go out and hunt for some queens but don’t know what months to look.

Hey!

I’m not sure which specifies this is but it was lingering outside my house so there is about to be a nuptial flight in Calgary. If anyone knows what species this is let me know!

Myrmica Sp. (Im assuming Rubra) Have 100% been flying in Calgary (Bridle wood area) this week. I saw the flights live in action on Sept 6th. The past few days I've caught about 15 queens. I'm trying to found the colony's a few different ways. I have dual queens, 4 queens and a 3 queen set up. Also some all by themselves. I'm not sure what other species is flying right now, but i'm thinking fish creek park is a great place to look. I've seem many species out and about.

Myrmica rubra doesn’t exist in Alberta. It’s definitely a Myrmica sp. for sure though.

Myrmica rubra exists in British Columbia, which borders Alberta. Due to Myrmica rubra's invasive nature, Alberta could see the species some time in the future.

Hey guys!
Happy to see some Albertans around.
I was just surfing through when I found this page.
Anyhow I caught a queen in late late July this/last year (Happy New Year) I think the 27 of July or something. I'm not sure what species she is yet though. If anyone knows any Alberta ant species that have nuptial flights in late July/ early August then give me a shout.
Ps. Found it near Lethbridge (about 20 mins south or so)
Thanks
