Hey everyone! I'm not seeing any topics for Alberta Canada, so I figured I'd start one! It's early in the season, but Please post of you see any flyers or landed queens! Camponotus seem to be done for now.

Awesome thread! It'd be awesome if you folks from Alberta would list species you find and where. :D Share with us.

I'd love to find some queens of the genus Myrmica. It'd be awesome if anyone who finds a Myrmica queen posts here.

You sure of this? Haven’t seen any around.

Anyway if anyone living in Alberta knows a good place to find Pogonomyrmex occidentalis that’d be awesome too. I’d love to keep this species.

Camponotus are on the ground again, two queens so far in Sherwood park, might see some others if this hot humid weather continues.

Is it possible to have found a Formica Podzolica queen out roaming? Picked one up this afternoon off my driveway

Just caught a wood ant princess (wings still on) hopefully she's mated! Also, my GF accidentally on purpose squished another golden coloured winged ant, roughly one centimeter in length, gastor looks like a males, but not sure if it's male or female though! Sherwood park ab, will post pics later today!

Found more of these parasite queens roaming around the farm yesterday, didn't gather any however, but at least 15 in one small area of gravel. Also, a few lasius alates, but no activity at any nest sites
