Thanks. Do you know what triggers a nuptial flight for tetramorium?

Most ants fly shortly after a rain storm. The only exception I know of is Prenolepis imparis, so as far as I know, Tetramorium is no exception.

The UAE is desert, right? So a rain storm would probably be easy to recognize.

Ok but I don’t think there will be a rainstorm any tim soon. :( I think what I will do is just go look every day for the two months and if there is a rainstorm I will just search extra hard.

I think the rain part of the nuptial flight scheduled is so the soil is damp and easy enough to dig in for the queens and for extra humidity for brood. So maybe a humid day would work to for ants

Just had a big rain in the UAE last night I think I’ll go for a walk and see if I can find any queens over the next few days.

I also suggest looking in parks as they are perfect places for ants in hot regions. With plenty of food and water. Might find queens there like I did. I live in UAE,Dubai and found carpenter ant queens in my nearby park.

The mating flight of some insects, most notably social bees and ants, is known as the nuptial flight.
