What kind of species is this? Lasius Flavus?

not sure, posted the pics in the ID forum and someone said they looked like claviger? or one of the parasitic species, not sure how to tell the difference.

My guess based on the color, location and time frame its Lasius Flavus. Did you mention in the ID post where you were and when you saw them?

I do hope you caught a queen of one of these, they are very gorgeous looking ants

I managed to find 3, one had already dropped her wings, one I watched pull them off immediately (which was really cool), the 3rd has yet to pull them off so I question if she had mated.



They are still alive, which is good as I understand they will die rather quickly if they do not have any workers. So keeping my fingers crossed!

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know that tetramorium immigrans queens are flying. Just caught 2 queens in my back yard. They've got wings, but they fell into my pool. Not positive if they are mated or not. But we'll find out.
