I live in East Tennessee (near Knoxville), and I was wondering:

1) what time of the year do crematogasters perform nuptial flights around here?

2) what time of the day is best to look for them?

3) what are the best days weather-wise to look for them?

4) where do crematogasters tend to nest and where's the best place to search for some?

Sorry for all the questions. I am basically brand new to ant keeping and would really like to keep a smaller species--preferably some sort of yellow/orange Lasius colony or crematogasters--on top of the camponotus pennsylvanicus queens I currently have. Thanks for any help!

1. Crematogasters nuptial flight goes from July to September.

2. As is the case for most species the best time to go looking is early morning.

3. As is the case for most species the best time to go looking is the day after a rainstorm.

4. Crematogasters generally nest in tree bark.

Hope this helps :)
