also the last picture is one of the wingless alates in a nonpermanant storage I had her in, I didn't know whether they had mated so I snatched a couple up just in case
 :? :)
Yeah there's really no way to tell if they are mated or not until their eggs hatch. You might've gotten some mated queens!

I haven't seen any queens yet sadly. And I only know of 4 different species directly where I live. Hoping to catch a Camponotus and Pogonomyrmex queen this year, wish there were more GAN farmers in Colorado too.

Hey guys! Just found a moving colony of black largish ants, they were polygenis and had a couple queens, will upload pics soon ;-) it was early in the morning so they were still cold and huddled together which I found interesting. They might be a lasius sp.?

I think the word you were trying to use was polymorphic? I'm definitely going anting today, it's been raining for the last couple of days here. It's not as warm as I would have hoped though

No I meant polygamous, having multiple queens, sorry about the confusion 😁

Polygamous refers to having multiple wives; polygynous refers to having multiple queens.

I haven't had any luck. I'm hoping I'll atleast see singns of nuptuial flights happening since it'll be the first warm day after a while of cold rainy days.
