I'm not sure about your local area, but usually it's a combination of things. Humidity is a big part of it as well as flights after a rainfall and time of year for the species. Sorry I can't help more I'm very new to any keeping

I'm not sure about where you are specifically but in general ants do fly after rainfall and in the warmer months (for my area it would be spring and summer) Hope this helps!
