Hey, so im new to ant keeping and the like. I'm in eastern washington state in the us and it looks like there is a nuptial flight going around but on all of the pages ive looked at, it seems like there shouldnt be any nuptial flights right now. I found an ant with wings tho so I have no idea. It's relatively large, maybe a inch in length including wings and it is black

Sounds like Camponotus queen. Camponotus, Some Crematogaster, Formica, and more are flying right now. Most species fly now, or in fall.

Put the queen in a test-tube setup and check once a week for eggs…
