Central California, today 5/25/2022

Multiple nests I've been watching now has winged females and males of Pogonomyrmex
possibly of californicus. Not sure as I haven't confirmed.
However, I'm new to this, is the female red like the workers and males black? They are active with each other (both red and black) before taking flights.
Outside air is 90F at 1020 hrs, ground temp at 6" about 80F.

Males typically have much smaller heads and big eyes, and straight antennae. Queen ants usually are bigger than workers(Not in Pogo) and have elbowed antennae with a normal head.

Can I see a picture of one of the unmated alates? I have 3 Pogonomyrmex californicus queens so I could compare. Also if you catch a mated queen of this species you should have a small outworld prepared because they are semi-claustral.
Camponotus Modoc: 3 workers
Camponotus Hyatti: 3 workers
