Nuptial flights in Midwest
I haven’t seen much talk about nuptial flights in the colder Midwest states this is for any nuptial flight sighting in the upper Midwest more in the colder areas

I’ve only seen lots of lasius umbratus and have caught a few hoping to introduce them successfully to some lasius neoniger

I have like five different colonies I’m trying to introduce all in different ways but I think one successfully introduced I have her some larvae and like five workers she’s caring for and she’s carrying the larvae like it’s her own so let’s hope

Update I’ve found some camponotus pennsylvanicus today in some wood I was ripping the bark off dead trees when i found them

Update I caught a formica fusca queen yesterday in the morning taking out the trash

09/17 I caught a Camponotus nearcticus which I thought was very strange as it’s September

Formica fusca does not live in America, so it must be Formica subsericea.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!

9/19 in north/north-central Indiana, just caught a newly mated Pheidole Sp. queen.
