First time posting a forum here, but i need your help! I have a trap jaw ant queen and she has eggs but i don't know why she is sort of "stinging" her own eggs. Can anyone help me? I'm scared that she is going to eat her eggs! :(

Have you fed her at all? If I remember correctly she is semi-claustral, which means she would leave the nest to go hunt for food. You might want to give her access to a small outworld and offer some protein-rich foods like insects.

I did feed her. But most of the time, whenever i feed her or open the lid to her out world, she just sort of "sting" her eggs. I had her for a few weeks now but the eggs she laid never become larvae, or they did but just to small to see. :? :?

Are you offering food in an outworld or in the tube itself? That ac tube connector thingy might we worth investing in, as it can serve as a miniature outworld, facilitates feeding and likely minimises vibrations in the tube. Which I assume is the thing that is annoying your queen the most at the moment.

Sorry for the late reply but i first put her in a test tube and attach an outworld to it and then raise her in that, but it seems like she dug a tunnel in the soil i put her in the outworld so i decided to remove the test tube as she seems she is not interested in the test ube anymore.

Well she would I guess. Her jaws are not just a weapon but also a tool which provides her with information. She probably can rely less on eyesight and any insects you offer would probably be attacked to neutralise potential threats.

Really!? I thought her antennae were the ones use for detecting prey and finding her direction. This is probably the fourth time i caught a trap jaw ant queen.

Well sure antennae are sort of feelers, eyes and a nose at the same time, and provide valuable info.
Still even you yourself use your jaws for info, though not always consciously. Think about biting into an unripe apple for instance. The resistance on your jaws tells you the fruit isn't ripe before the sour flavour does.

Well, i was thinking about what foods should i try feeding her and how many times i should feed her in a week or so. I seems she is doing quite well in there.
