Trying to learn what ants are in my area.
Hello AC family, I live in central Georgia, I am looking to start any keeping but I really don’t want fire ants, I’m pretty new to this, and would like to know if anyone on here knows what should be around my area. Thanks in advance.

Plenty of ants species to chose from luckily, though I am not sure if many (if any) species will have their nuptial flights this late in the year. Check https://antwiki.org/wiki/Georgia for a list of all the known species in your area.

Thanks so much, I have a small child and would like to stray away from the stinging or biting ants, as well as something like pavement ants, being so small they escape too easy.

There are several websites that can help one is AntMaps. It lists a mosly accurate list of native species and is just fun to look at. It works great as a tool with Ant wiki or Ant web
