Found what i think is a queen Vicinus so they might be flying today. Did anyone see any others species around lately?

Does she look like this? Image

I tried to help someone else on the forum identify a Camponotus queen that looked a lot like the herculanus but might in fact be a vicinus as well. So I guess other people have seen them fly as well.

You might like to check out our little band of Camponotus keepers by the way. Check out the link in my signature. (I am also developing a paludarium to house them in, but we use the thread to exchange ideas, experiences etc.)

She as the reddish and black colors on her so maybe. But i was not sure if she was a queen since she was big but maybe she's a major? How big is the queen in your pic?

Not my picture, I took it off antwiki. There's a measurements bar in the picture itself, so I would say 1.8 - 2 cm? The majors would have a different shape, less pronounced abdomen as they don't have to produce eggs...

Interesting, well she does seem to fit the size but either way if she is a queen and fertilized she will survive if not then she wont live long. Second day after the rainstorm so will check again today. Will see if i find anything. If I dont write anything by 4 pm then i guess they are not flying today.

There have been a lot of species flying around lately. Good luck!
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]
