Hello ant keepers of California. Nuptial flights for Solenopsis (Fire ants) has begun. I found a colony in my neighborhood with virgin queens gearing up for the mating season. If anyone of you are looking to try and keep the genus, good luck hunting. If some of you find this genus rather "invasive" get ready.

Could be Solenopsis xyloni… they aren’t invasive. Anyway thanks for letting us know! In my experience Invicta flies year-round
